Wendy Hinkle, 72, of Frederic

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Catherine Hinkle. She would have been 72 years old (or 18 as she would have told you – being a leap year baby) this Feb 29.

Wendy was born to Eugene & Mildred (Craft)Harmer in Grayling on Feb 29, 1952.

Wendy had a sharp wit and kind heart. She married her high school (middle school really) sweetheart, Rodney D Hinkle, July 11, 1970.  Together they raised their daughter, attended car shows and made what feels like a million lifetime friends. Wendy loved reading and instilled that in her daughter! She was a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen or a laugh when you needed it.  Wendy loved her family and friends and was happiest when spending time with them all. She loved bragging about her 3 grandsons and was so very proud of all of their accomplishments. And while the last 10+ years were spent in a wheelchair, she always believed that some else needed help or really anything more than she did.  While her passing deeply saddens us all, please consider the positive that she is dancing and running everywhere she goes.

Since Wendy was a lover of color, please wear something that makes you happy if you are able to attend the memorial service.

Wendy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rodney Hinkle; daughter, Erica (Richard) Snay; grandchildren, Isaac (Madelyn) Trout, Kincade Trout, and Justin Snay; and brother Kevin Harmer. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Michael Harmer, Annie Dowland, Missy Linkhart, and Todd Harmer.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 PM with Michael Dunckley officiating. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post 106 in Grayling, MI.
