Perry Charles Egan

Perry Charles Egan left this Earth for greener pastures on January 24, 2024.
He was born on December 7, 1952, in Pontiac, Michigan. It was Pearl Harbor Day. His parents were William Frederick Egan and Barbara Ruth Williams. He spent his early years on Lower Pettibone Lake, fishing and swimming. Much of his childhood was also spent in the Mio area, where his father built a ski hill south of town. He was in the National Ski Patrol from an early age.
Perry graduated from Milford High School in 1971 and joined the Navy Seabees. He saw the world, and learned HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and everything else the Navy needed repaired. His favorite places were Guam, where he said the sunsets were the most beautiful in the world, and Sicily, where he said the people were the friendliest on Earth. While on a leave, he skied down the entire face of Mt. Fuji in Japan.
After his service he had a wife and three daughters and lived in several places, including Omaha, Topeka, and Phoenix. He specialized in household appliance repair and had a busy career. In 1994 he returned to northern Michigan, but his life took a turn when he amputated his right arm in a freak chainsaw accident. It was reattached at Ann Arbor and put him in the record books as the highest successful reattachment of a limb.
In 2006 he met the love of his life, Corinne, and they moved to Atlanta, Michigan. He worked under the name of Atlanta Appliance Service, just one man and a toolbox, and a lifetime of knowledge and experience. He didn’t always remember details about people, but he could tell you all about their appliances. The only place on earth he wanted to be was here in the north woods, fishing, camping, gardening, and enjoying the little homestead carved out of the woods. Since the age of five, he meticulously built hundreds of scale model radio-controlled airplanes.
He is survived by his wife Corinne, three daughters, Brandy, Valerie, and Christina, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and treasured nephews, nieces, and cousins. He also is survived by siblings, Gary, Gail, and Paul, and one very good dog. He was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Gerald, and beloved stepmother, Joan.
The family will remember him privately.
