Lenore Pastula, 89, of Houghton Lake

Lenore Pastula, 89, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Beaumont/Corewell Hospital in Troy, Michigan. 

Lenore was born on September 21, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, to Chester and Wanda (Korytkowski) Plewa. She graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit and received her R.N. degree from Mercy School of Nursing. On September 17, 1955, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Pastula. She worked for many years as an R.N. at Mount Carmel Hospital in the surgical and emergency departments. She finished her nursing career working for the State of Michigan. She expressed her creative side by oil painting, sewing, knitting, scrapbooking and writing poetry. She was a gracious hostess, an excellent cook and a wonderful baker. She spent many years active with Our Lady of the Lake CCW.

Mrs. Pastula is survived by her son, Thomas & Cindy Pastula of St. Johns; two daughters, Anne & Duane Reimink of Grand Rapids, and Lynne & Gregg Golden of Warren; five grandchildren, Laura Pastula, David Pastula and his fiancée Lexi Zell, Sarah Acree and her husband Chris, Erin Golden, and Ryan Golden; sister, Joan Palmer; sister-in-law, Suzanne Bell of FL; and several nieces and nephews. Lenore was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Dick Pastula; her parents; brother, Michael Pleva; and brothers-in-law Julius Palmer, Gerald Pastula, and Robert Pastula. 

Mass of Christian Burial for Lenore Pastula will be conducted on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:00am from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Prudenville with Fr. Rolando Silva officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30am until the time of the service at 11:00am. Rosary will be recited by the Council of Catholic Women on Thursday at 10:00am at the church. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Lenore are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Food Bank, 725 S. Loxley Road, Houghton Lake, MI 48629, or Oasis of Hope House, PO Box 1503, Houghton Lake, MI 48629. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
