Gary ‘Peanut’ Nash, 63, of Gladwin

Gary D. Nash, known affectionately as “Peanut” to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Gladwin on January 14, 2024, at the age of 63. He was born on August 20, 1960, in Gladwin, Michigan to the late Marvin & Betty (Beavers) Nash. A proud graduate of Gladwin High School where he played football and basketball.

His interests in demolition derby, hunting (his favorite holiday, November 15), ice fishing, and golfing were not just hobbies but integral parts of his identity. Gary enjoyed attending car shows, having his own 1962 Ford Galaxy (his baby) which he has owned for 30 years. He worked alongside his dad in excavation at Marv Nash trucking where he honed his skills and work ethic, which carried over to Brown Machine.

Gary’s heart was truly anchored at home, where he embraced his role as a loving husband to his wife Patti Nash, who he married on February 17, 1994, and shared 29 beautiful years. Together, they raised a family that became Gary’s greatest pride. Their children—Mitchell (Hollie) Nash, Emily (fiancé Joe) Jaime, Megan Holly and her partner, Jeff, and Michael (Lexis) Nash were the recipients of his boundless love and support. Gary’s sense of humor and adventurous spirit were gifts he gladly passed down to the next generation. The twinkle in Gary’s eye shone brightest when he spoke of his grandchildren—Brynn, Lainey, Camryn, Keily, Petie, and Ellen. He was the consummate grandparent, always ready with a story, a joke, or a listening ear. His pride in their achievements and his joy in their company were evident to all who knew him. Gary’s legacy of love and laughter will undoubtedly live on through them. He is also survived by his siblings Ronnie, Rod, Becky (Doug) Padella, Patti (Carl) Meixner, Kyle (Cindy), Kevin, and many nieces and nephews. Those who knew Gary would describe him as a jokester, having a great sense of humor, loved telling stories, yet cranky at times, a hard worker, and never idle. His ability to light up a room with his humor was matched only by his willingness to embark on any adventure, big or small.

A Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Community of Christ Church Gladwin, with Elder Dan French presiding. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10:30 am until the time of service.
