Lewis ‘Louie’ Teeples, 95, of Rose City

Lewis “Louie” Elijah Teeples, age 95, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at his home in Rose City, MI with his loved ones by his side. He was born on June 25, 1928, in Rose City to Oscar and Georganna (Atherton) Teeples. He lived in Rose City since 1988, formerly of Flint.

Lewis dedicated 41 years of his life to Buick, retiring in 1988. He was a hardworking individual who took great pride in his career. Outside of work, Lewis had a passion for hunting, which he enjoyed until the age of 94. He also had a green thumb and found joy in taking care of his yard and mowing the lawn. However, his greatest happiness came from spending time with his family, especially during the holiday season, which he cherished dearly.

Lewis is survived by his loving daughters, Rita (Michael) Payne and Gloria Whitener, as well as his grandchildren, Deborah, Lisa, Tasha, Matthew, and Karista. He also leaves behind 22 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Lewis is also survived by his sisters, Deda Arntz and Betty Avery; and many nieces and nephews.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Betty, and 11 siblings, as well as his great grandsons, Nate Payne and Jeremy Hayman.

A funeral service will be held in Lewis’ honor on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Chaplain Lon Cook will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Lane Heights Cemetery.
