Keith Shumaker, 78, of Lewiston

Mr. Keith Allen Shumaker, 78 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at his home with family at his side on the evening of November 25, 2023. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 17, 1945, to the late William and Leona (Fredette) Shumaker. Keith is survived by his loving wife, Sue Shumaker of Lewiston; daughters, Tracie (Chuck) Morris of Farmington; Marcie (Willie) Woodard of Farmington Hills; grandson, Marco; and grand dog, Leeia. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Leona Shumaker. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Keith resided in Lewiston alongside his wife, Sue of 55 years. He was a builder and handyman of many trades. Keith and his cousin Ron built his home 45 years ago and his family moved to Lewiston from Warren, MI. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and could fix anything! He helped his uncle build a cabin in the woods. He was a past member of the Lewiston Moose, The Lewiston Fun Ones, and the American Legion.  Keith enjoyed his pontoon boat with his wife and two daughters, fishing, and swimming on East Twin Lake. He loved snowmobiling and hunting with family and friends. When Keith’s daughters would come to visit, he would always ask, “how many deer did you see on the way up?” His wife and daughters are celebrating his life with a hunting, camo, woodsy theme which couldn’t be more fitting for his love of living in Lewiston and the opening of deer season each year!  He will be deeply missed.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life in Keith’s honor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall beginning at 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Keith to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3805 County Road 612, Lewiston, Michigan 49756.
