JoAnn Visotsky, 87, of Roscommon

JoAnn Alma Visotsky, age 87, of Roscommon, died on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at her home in the presence and comfort of her family.

JoAnn was born April 26, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Melvin and Dorothy (Monaghan) Stevenson.

JoAnn was a very gifted and talented musician who played multiple instruments and was very passionate about her singing. As a teenager, JoAnn had the opportunity to sing on WWJ Radio. She was a member of a traveling group, the Women of the Bible, who would travel all over Michigan to perform different Bible stories in which she also sang. In 2004, she performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. For five decades, JoAnn was widely requested to sing for weddings and funerals. JoAnn shared her love of music as a teacher for four decades, teaching in public and private schools, as well as teaching piano and voice from home. She was a deeply religious person who shared her talents through numerous churches of all denominations, serving as Director of Music and Organist.

JoAnn will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her sons: Steve (Debbie) Visotsky, Pete Visotsky, Scott (Wendy) Visotsky, and Mark (Cynthia) Visotsky; grandchildren: Stephanie, Dawn, and Nikolai; great-grandchildren James, Morgan, Jordan, Noah, Kaleb, and Genevieve; nephew Carter; as well as many cousins and friends.

JoAnn’s family has chosen to remember her privately at this time.

If so desired, the family prefers memorial contributions be made in JoAnn’s name to the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church of the North, 149 Robinson Lake Road, Roscommon, Michigan 48653, of which she and her husband Peter had been longtime members.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
