George J. Brown Jr.
Beaverton, Michigan
George “J.B.” Brown, 54, passed away on December 10, 2023 peacefully in his sleep in Gladwin County.
J.B. was born on August 19, 1969 to George & Mary (Allard) Brown in West Branch, Michigan. After schooling, J.B. pursued a career in skilled trades, working as a laborer, carpenter, and general mechanic. However, his true calling was found when he started working behind a stove as a line cook—giving Gordon Ramsay a run for his money.
J.B. was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and lived and worked within the Tribal community. He had a love for all things hunting, fishing, mudbogging, and general outdoors related. His passion for food extended beyond his job description, as he often held barbecues and large meals for friends and family. Food really was his love language, second only to his love for his fur babies.
J.B.’s Catholic faith was an essential part of his life. He spent a great deal of time reflecting on the mercies of God and was deeply proud of his role as a Godfather.
He is survived by his two sons, George, and Michael Brown; granddaughter, Lillian Brown; mother, Mary Allard; sister, Lisa Bordeau; sister, Julie Brown; sister, Kathleen (Brown) Rifenbark; brother, Craig Brown; godson, Lincoln Bordeau; a niece; nephews; and countless cousins.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Cyril & Isabella Allard; father, George Brown; niece, Jennafer Brown; nephew, Blake VanSnepson; great-nephew, Wolfe VanSumeren; brother-in-law, Tommy Rifenbark; Joseph; godparents; Joseph, Thomas & Isabella Allard; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity-St. Michael’s Parish with Rev.Fr. Matthew Federico presiding, with cremation to follow. Friends and family may visit at the Church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
