Bruce Schneider, 69, of Rose City

Bruce Arthur Schneider, 69, passed away at home surrounded by his family in Rose City, MI on Thursday November 30th.

He was born on August 6, 1954, in West Branch, MI, to Elmer and Norma (Bragg) Schneider. Upon graduation from Ogemaw Heights High School, he traveled the world, proudly serving in the United States Air Force for 22 and a half years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He met his wife Susan during his time in the Air Force and they raised their two boys while stationed in many different areas including the Philippines, Germany, and England. Upon his retirement, he returned to Rose City, MI where he built his own house from the ground up. His love for talking with people brought him out of retirement for another 20-year career at Sunrise Convenience Stores. Throughout his time in Rose City, he was involved in the local community via organizations such as the Lions Club, Boy Scouts, and Cummings Township.

In later years, he took up many hobbies with great care and energy: he enjoyed the art of winemaking, he pursued his love of photography, and he rekindled his childhood passion for building model rockets. During those years, he also greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Whether it was making the kids laugh with silly faces on FaceTime, launching rockets with them, or enjoying a good diner breakfast, Bruce made every moment with grandchildren count.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Williamson) Schneider, and their two sons, Scott (Sarah) and Kyle (Erika). He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Aubrey, Daniel, William, and Katie; his siblings Janice (Wesley) Poirier, William “Bill” (Angela) Schneider, David (Maria-Sol) Schneider, and Patricia (Sheridan) Cole; several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces; and his best friend Virgil Neubecker.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Kathleen “Kathy” and her husband, Richard “Dick” Schick.

A visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Burial services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Instead of floral arrangements, his family kindly requests that any donations be made to the Air Force Aid Society, which provides emergency financial assistance, education support, and community programs to Air Force and Space Force families. https://tinyurl.com/Bruce-Donation.
