Claire F. Ryan, age 94, of Roscommon, died on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Mission Point in Roscommon, Michigan.
Claire was born June 15, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Matthew and Florence (Wambold) McKinney.
Claire married Henry Ryan of Montreal, Canada in 1953, and moved to Michigan in 1960. She worked as an x-ray technician throughout her career in both Philadelphia and Michigan. When she wasn’t working and taking care of 3 children, she loved to go bird-watching, and became pretty expert at identifying birds by their calls and flight patterns. Her daughter Florence loved to accompany her on her outings. Claire decided to spend her retirement in Roscommon Michigan because she fell in love with the natural beauty of this area.
Claire will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children: Geoffrey Ryan, and wife Marti, Florence Marcisak, and husband Edward; and grandchild, Megan Ryan, daughter of Geoffrey and Marti; younger sister, Florence Pearson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Claire is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joan; sister Rita; brother, Matthew.
Claire’s Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 104 North 6th Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653. All are welcome.
Claire will be laid to rest at Gerrish Township Cemetery, Roscommon, Michigan.
