Ronald Bacon, 72, of West Branch

Ronald Dale Bacon, age 72, passed away peacefully in his home in West Branch, MI on Sunday, October 22, 2023. He was born on March 11, 1951, in Flint, MI to Donald and Fay (Cornfoot) Bacon. Ronald lived a fulfilling life leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication.

Ronald lived in West Branch for the past 19 years, formerly of Mt. Morris, MI.

On September 9, 1972, he married Penny Spalding in Clio, MI.

Ronald was a proud alumnus of Clio High School, graduating with the class of 1970. He sold life insurance before he had a long and fulfilling career at General Motors Truck and Bus, where he devoted thirty-four years of tireless work. Ronald was a committed member of the UAW 599, where he made numerous lifelong friendships and left a lasting impact with his dedication and hard work.

Ronald had a passion for the outdoors, which was reflected in his love for birdwatching, fly fishing and hunting. He had a particular fondness for western movies, often spending his free time immersed in the adventures of the Wild West. He was also a keen viewer of the cooking channel, where he gathered inspiration for his culinary endeavors. Above all, Ronald’s greatest joy and pride was his family, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally. He was a man of few words and was very humble.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Penny Bacon of West Branch, his loving children Ronald (Stacy) Bacon of West Branch, Lisa (Ron) Wallace of Waterford, MI, and his cherished grandchildren Shane (Skyla Ryckman) Bacon, Zachary (Breanna) Bacon, Devin Bacon, Paige Bacon, Riley Bacon, Mallory Wallace, Logan Wallace, and Noah Bacon. Ronald was also a proud great-grandfather to Shane, Addison, and Lincoln. He was a dear brother to Nancy (Gerry) Gonyea of Grand Rapids, MI and Todd Bacon of Flint, and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, son Shane Bacon, and sister Elaine Wilbur.

A special thank you to Compassus Hospice and McLaren Home Health Care nurses for the care of Ronald.

The funeral service will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Helen Alford will officiate. Burial will be at West Vienna Cemetery in Clio on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
