Ellen Ethel McKenna, age 87, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland, MI. She was born on July 15, 1936, in Detroit, MI to William and Ethel (Spycher) Nizer. She lived in West Branch since 1960, formerly of Sterling.
Nellie graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. She worked at Arenac Independent in Standish, Ogemaw County Herald in West Branch and Tolfree Hospital in West Branch for many years. She enjoyed yard work, flowers, birds, and puzzles.
Nellie is survived by her sons, Brian McKenna and Barry McKenna both of West Branch; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Richard in 2009.
Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Branch. Father Emmanuel Finbarr will officiate.
