Thelma Shellenbarger, 77, of AuSable

Thelma Jean Shellenbarger (formerly Featheringill), age 77, peacefully passed away on August 16 after her battle with diabetes and dementia. She was born September 1, 1945 and grew up in the Tawas area. She married Dennis (Mike) Shellenbarger on November 9, 1963 and resided with him in AuSable for the remainder of her life. Her traditional jobs included working at Foster’s Shoes and being the deputy treasurer for AuSable Township in the 80’s. Mostly she worked hard at raising her kids and helping out with her grandkids, which she enjoyed doing the best. She always looked forward to family cookouts and get-togethers, and she loved spending time with her Thursday Night Bowling ladies. Her family and friends are what made her the happiest. In addition to her husband, Mike, she leaves behind their three children: Mike Shellenbarger (wife Cheryl) of Brunswick, Maine; Tracy Condor of Oscoda, and Tammy Rush (husband Jeff) of Oscoda; six grandchildren: Alyssa, Dylan, Daniel, Samantha, Jacob and Joseph; and three great-grandchildren: Pierson, Aubree and DJ. She also leaves behind two sisters: Joyce Metiva of Saginaw, and Janet Schultz of Marshfield of Wisconsin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Featheringill and her four brothers: Joseph, Bert, David and Ronald.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Buresh Funeral Home with a luncheon to follow.
