Kevin ‘Todd’ Essary, 62, of East Tawas

Kevin “Todd” Essary, of East Tawas, passed away Wednesday, August 16th in Midland at the age of 62.

He was born the son of Ronald Leroy Essary and Carol Isabel (Fox) on March 8, 2061 in Centerville IA. He attended Lake Orion Schools. He worked for many years in the airline industry and then moved to the Mikado area to enjoy hunting and fishing, later moving to East Tawas.

Todd was a Licensed Ham Radio Operator call sign K8TOD and a CB enthusiast “Rusty Nail”. He enjoyed talking to people in the area and around the world on his radios. He enjoyed outdoor recreation especially hunting and fishing. He recently took up gardening with a focus on growing food organically.

He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in the 426th Supply and Transportation Battalion and then served in the Army Reserves.

Todd is survived by his wife, Penny June (Dreffs) whom he married on December 26th, 2004. His mother Carol Isabel (Fox) O’Neil, His brother Stephen Brent Essary and his wife Jennifer, His sister Marna Chantelle Whited and her husband Tom , his many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his daughters Stephanie Essary, Lisa Essary, and his son Kevin Todd (Jennifer) Essary (all live in Tennessee) and his grandchildren Jayla, Shylee, Kennon, Aniya, James & Michael.

He was predeceased in death by his father Ronald Leroy Essary and Step-Father Larry O’Neil and grandchild Kalli Carter.

Sunday, August 20th there will be a visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and celebration of life 1 p.m.- 2 p.m. at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City, Michigan.

Friends are welcome to participate in service. The family would like to thank all those who held us up in prayer and offered their support during this brief but trying time.
