Steve Distlerath, 62, of Mt. Clemens

Steven (Steve) Donald Distlerath, age 62, of Mt. Clemens, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, August 28, 2023, in the presence and comfort of his family, in Roscommon, Michigan. He passed doing what he loved; on vacation with his family, at one of his favorite spots in Michigan…Higgins Lake.

Steve was born December 1, 1960, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, the son of Ronald Distlerath and Fae (Bumler) Lord. Steve married the love of his life, Viola Guzman, on September 27, 1986, in Houston, Texas.

Steve’s long battle with serious medical issues showed his impeccable strength and courage facing every obstacle that life threw at him. He was an avid outdoorsman and was his happiest, camping, hunting, or being by the water. Some of his life passions were, gardening, grilling, playing and watching sports, watching the boat races, and playing cards; especially Euchre and Gin Rummy. Steve loved his family fiercely and his wisdom and warmth with be profoundly missed.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Viola, of 36 years; daughter, Sarah (Alex) of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; son, Austin (Briana) of Chesterfield, Michigan; grandchildren: Kylie, Leonardo, and Rylan; mother, Fae (Randy) Lord, of Houston, Texas; sister, Julie of Houston, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Faith United Methodist Church, 56370 Fairchild Road, Macomb, Michigan 48042, followed by a celebration of life luncheon offsite.

If so desired, the family prefers memorial contributions be made in Steve’s name to American Heart Association or American Kidney Fund.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
