James W. Ghent, 82, of Gladwin passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. He was born on March 12, 1941 the son of Louis and Margaret (Dolph) Ghent in Baldwin, MI. He was united in marriage to his wife Edithe White and together they shared 63 years. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years. James also worked at Kings Daughters Home until his retirement. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors including hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife: Edithe Ghent; sisters: Wilma (Max) Jamieson, Lula Kaan, and Ruthy Corey; brother: Louie Ghent; children: Rick (Narissa) Ghent, Timothy (Liza) Ghent, and Sue Ghent; 13 grandchildren: Joshua (Heather) Ghent, Crystal (Joshua) Onweller, Jennifer (Toby) Thornsbury, Ashley Ghent, Melissa (Drew) Anderson, Tyler Ghent, Bailey Ghent, and Danielle (Kyle) Hostetler; 19 great-grandchildren: Braxton, Olin James, Ellie May, Easton, Damien, Zoe, Davina, Keylee, Bently, Wyatt, Eli, Amara, MaKayla, Autum, Chase, Brinden, Jaxson and Benjamin.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Margaret; sister: Betty Swierz; brother: William Ghent; grandchildren: Jill Smalley and Christopher Trombley.
