Marilyn A. McArt, Age 76, of East Tawas, MI passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 10, 1947 in Detroit, MI to the late Bostwick and Gladys Brown (Atherton). Marilyn moved to the Tawas area in the 1970’s and over the years she worked at Tawas Industries and for Zubek Motors. She was a very proud believer and she came to know the Lord when she was 36 years old.
For several years Marilyn was very active with the local community garden. She was a green thumb and really enjoyed gardening. Marilyn was an animal lover and dogs were her favorite. She also loved hummingbirds, dragonflies and cardinals. Marilyn was very artistic and she loved working on several crafts, including pottery, drawing and painting. In addition to her hobbies, she enjoyed traveling. One of her favorites places to visit and where she created her most fond memories were in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan at the Pictured Rocks. Marilyn was known for her sense of humor and will be dearly missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Michael Johnston; four children, daughter Kim McArt, son Mick McArt and his wife Erica, daughter Jamie Johnston and son Christopher Johnston. Marilyn is also survived by brother Patrick Brown; ten grandchildren, Anna, Tim, Micah, Jonah, Emerald, Amber, Shania, Trenton, Wyatt, Major; and two great grandchildren, Damian and Lilly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Carolyn, Bill, Rick, Ron, Bonnie, Donald and two grandchildren, Eirelyn and Brandan.
