Todd Messerschmidt, 58, of Grayling

Todd Alan Messerschmidt, 58, of Grayling passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Todd was an avid hunter, fisherman, kayaker, forager and overall outdoor enthusiast. He bonded with many over his pudding stone collections. His love for the outdoors carried over into his lifetime career with construction. He was always proud of the work he did, and if you drive down any street, you’re likely to see a job he’s done. He was willing to help whoever was in need, and you could count on him to make you laugh.

Todd was preceded in death by his father, Jerald Messerschmidt, his mother, Barbara Walker, and his step father, Roger Walker, as well as many other family members.

Todd is survived by his four children, Tricia (Quin) Stilwell, Devin (Kayla) Stephan, Torrey (Mason) Messerschmidt and Erin (Beau) Messerschmidt; his side-kick, Dylan Meachum; Six siblings, Terry (Kim) Messerschmidt, Tami (Russ) Lukima, Laura Trojanek, Jim (Bobbi) Messerschmidt, Greg (Angela) Messerschmidt, and Dianne (Robert) Ward; as well as six grandchildren, thirty-nine nieces and nephews, and fifty great nieces and nephews, which he enjoyed teaching every chance he could.

A Celebration of Todd’s Life will take place at 1pm on Sunday, June 11 at the American Legion in Grayling. Todd was a regular at the Legion, so his family feels a Coors Light in his honor would be appropriate.

His family is requesting everyone bring a dish to pass, as well as photos and memories to share. They know there are many.

Todd was extremely excited to walk Torrey down the aisle in less than a month, as well as welcoming his seventh grandchild this fall. Todd left an impact on everyone he came in contact with, and his memory will not be forgotten.

Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home.
