John Currie, 65, of Whittemore

John David Currie, a lifelong resident of Whittemore, MI passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2023.

He was born in Standish, MI to Edgar and Frances (Caverly) Currie on September 2, 1957. After graduating from Whittemore Prescott High School in 1976, John worked for Rohns-Pork Chop Hill, Tawas Tool and Huron Breeze.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He married his wife Paula Jean Shaw in 2017 and became “Papa” to his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Paula, he is survived by his siblings, JoAnn (Earl) Sass of Kimball, MI, Ed (Barb) Currie of Whittemore, MI, Jim Currie of Hale, MI, Pamela (Bob) Warren of Mayville, MI, Murial Currie Shalda of AuGres, MI; stepchildren, Tina Leitner and Matthew (Trinity) Bieri of Skidway Lake; grandchildren, Nevaeh Grace Bieri, Martina and Nicholas Niemi; several nieces and nephews; special lifelong friends, Bob Pipesh, Kevin Leslie, LeWayne Provoast, Jerry & Jay Carlton; and dialysis friend, Joey Schliep.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Peggy Currie, infant brother Billy Currie, and brother Jerry “Robert” Currie.

Cremation has taken place and there is no service planned at this time. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
