Cheryl Marie Taylor, age 73, of Houghton Lake, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in Roscommon, in the presence and comfort of her beloved friends.

Cheryl was born November 24, 1949, in Bend, Oregon, the daughter of Cloyde “Robert” and Virginia (Cunningham) Herringshaw.

Cheryl lived most of her life in Fairbanks, Alaska. She would talk about the log cabin she had there. Cheryl loved Alaska. When Cheryl and Richard retired from Alaska, they moved to the Houghton Lake area. She enjoyed being a volunteer to the Roscommon County Victim Services Unit. She loved to cook for everyone and anyone.

Cheryl will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her son, Matthew (Shelley Resto) Herringshaw; step-son, Richard Taylor; mother, Virginia; siblings: Trudee Frey, Ken (Vicki) Herringshaw, Ronald (Cindy) Herringshaw; grandchildren: Matthew Jr., Mason, Timothy, as well as one on the way; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Chery is preceded in death by her father, Cloyde “Robert” Herringshaw; husband, Richard Taylor; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Frey.

Cheryl’s family has chosen to remember her privately at this time. Per her wishes, Cheryl chose to be anatomically donated.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Cheryl’s name to the Roscommon County Victim Services Unit, and the Roscommon County Food Pantry.
