Inez Wagner, 104, of Fairview

Inez W. Wagner, age 104, passed away peacefully at Wellspring Lutheran Home on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Inez was born on April 24, 1918 to Frank and Mabel (Bontrager) Pletcher on a farm in Comins, MI. After graduation, she worked in Midland, MI and went to business school. She met James “Jim” Wagner of Indiana and were married by her uncle Erie Bontrager on September 27, 1940 in Vestaburg, MI. They had three daughters: Lana Lundgren of Nevada, Trudy Holberton of Fairview, MI, and Cindy Bibber of Arkansas. They moved to Fairview from Bay City in 1946. Jim was a carpenter and farmed, and Inez worked for her sister at Fullerton Pharmacy and as Comins Township Clerk. She also worked at Camp Barakel which she so enjoyed. Inez was a member of the Comins Community Church. In her spare time, Inez liked to bowl, quilt, and watch Detroit Tiger baseball games. She also loved to bake, everyone loved her sugar cookies! After retirement, Inez went to Florida in the winter and enjoyed visiting with her many Fairview friends and others, playing cards and sitting in the sun.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Jim Wagner, her parents, two sisters: Opal Fullerton and Kathryn Slagell, and one great-grandson Dustin. She is survived by her three daughters: Lana, Trudy, and Cindy; and a special niece Maureen (Fullerton) Stevens and family of Alpena, MI. She had eight grandchildren: Steve Herlick and Julie Kearney of Nevada; Jim (Cindy) Handrich of Spring Lake, MI; Stephanie (Louie) Kamen of Comins, MI; Travis Handrich of Fairview, MI; Dan Stemple, Dee (Darren) Wright, and Lisa (Darren) Dawson, all of Arkansas. She also had 14 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service and interment of ashes at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan will follow at a later date.
