Holly Spear Sr., 84, of National City

Age 84, passed away on April 7th, 2023, in Essexville, Michigan. Holly was born in Flint, Michigan, on June 27, 1938, to the late Frank Spear and Iola Salmer. He was a former resident of Fenton, Michigan, before he ultimately retired to National City, Michigan. Holly had many talents, especially those relating to the automotive industry. He worked many years as a mechanic for General Motors before he retired in 1980. On August 24, 1961, he married the love of his life, Sharon Patsey. The two spent the next 61 years happily together, making memories and raising their three children. Holly always made it a point in his day to tell Sharon that he “loves her, and that she is beautiful”, which shows the wonderful bond they had together. Some of Holly’s many hobbies consisted of hunting, fishing, bowling, working on junk cars, and spending quality time with his grandchildren.

Holly is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Spear; his three children, Hollie (Jennifer) Spear Jr., Shari (Charles) Mcquillan, and Tina Matta; six grandchildren, Dwayne Haglund, Addison (Grace) Spear, Kyle Mcquillan, Maeve Mcquillan, Bobbi Matta, and Nicholas Matta; six great grandchildren, Rudy Spear, Elliott Spear, Louis Spear, Jamie Haglund, Violet Haglund, and Lydia Matta; and brother, Jack (Sandy) Spear. In addition to his parents, Holly was preceded in death by his brother’s, Dale Spear, Don Spear, and Larry Spear.

Per Holly’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family plans to have a celebration of life at a later date. Any memorial contributions may be made out to Brian’s House (Hospice) in Essexville, Michigan, and you may leave an online condolence at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
