Edward ‘Ned’ Dufort, 86, of Standish

Edward “Ned” Dufort, 86 of Standish, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2023. Ed is survived by Carol, his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, his brother Robert (Bob), his daughter Nancy Borushko and son-in-law Marty, his son Eric and daughter-in- law Julie and grandchildren Kingston, Elizabeth, and Leonidas and many nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his mother Jean (Laura), his sister Nancy, brother Donald (Jake) and sister Karen and his son Timothy.

Ed graduated in 1955 from Standish High School. After high school Ed joined the United States Army and served until 1958. On the completion of his service in the Army, he furthered his education and became a licensed mortician. He began his career in Three Rivers, MI at the Halverson Funeral Chapel. Ed ended his career in Standish at the R.O. Savage funeral home when he retired in 2003 after nearly 40 years as a mortician.

Ed was an active member in his community. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. Ed also served as the President of the school board of Immaculate Conception Elementary School and was a member of the Standish-Sterling School Board. He also was a Eucharistic Minister at both Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church.

Ed’s greatest joy was coaching and watching his children and then his grandchildren participate in sporting events. Ed shared his love of competition with those in his life.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lyndsay Hill, Katie Krey from COMPASSUS and the staff members from Eden Fields for their care and compassion during Ed’s last hours.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday April 25, 2023, at 11 am at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner presiding with burial in Resurrection of the Lord Cemetery. Family will greet family and friends at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-STANDISH CHAPEL on Monday from 3 to 8pm. A Vigil Service will be held at 7pm Monday evening. On Tuesday Ned will lie in state at the church from 10 am until time of Mass. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Resurrection of the Lord Church.
