Bobby Jenner, 91, of Fairview

Bobby Eugene Jenner, 91, of Fairview, Michigan went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on February 28th, 2023 at his home in Fairview with his wife Ruby by his side. Bob was born on July 28th, 1931 along with his twin brother Billy Gene, to his parents Arthur and Wilma (Rochholz) Jenner of Wilton Junction, Iowa.

Bob graduated in 1953 from the University of Iowa with a degree in business and joined the Air Force where he served in Alaska as a flight controller. After his service he moved to Fairview to help his aunt and uncle work in their cabin building/ chicken raising/ logging/ sawmill business. For entertainment he went to the Fairview High School basketball games and noticed a cute cheerleader from Comins, Ruby Rhoads. After a double date, Bob and Ruby became an item and were married after she graduated in 1957. Nine months later their family started arriving: Jane Lynn, James Robert, Joanne Ruby and John Arthur.

Not able to feed all these mouths on his current salary, he applied at the Roscommon State Bank in Mio in 1965 where he was hired as a teller. He worked there until he retired in 1988 from the position of NBD Bank President and CEO Roscommon, Michigan.

Bob and Ruby spent many retirement years traveling, wintering in Arizona and Hawaii. Bob was an avid woodworker and built many houses, kitchens, and churches in our community. He loved to carve, hunt, run his sawmill and miniature train, make pottery, restore hit and miss engines, grow iris, create beautiful jewelry and created many craft and art projects gifting them to family and friends. Banking was his job, but artistry and woodworking were his real passion.

Bob asked Christ into his life as a young father and walked with him faithfully through the years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruby (Rhoads) Jenner, daughter Jane Handrich (Dallas) of Fairview, daughter Joanne Szubelak (Peter) of Fairview, son John Jenner (Rhonda) of West Branch, MI, Daughter in law, Jacqueline (Jenner) Barnum . Grandchildren: Joshua, Jordan, Matthias, Solomon, Jubal, Theophilus, Daykota, Colby, Grant, Bridgette, Jade, Pierson, Indigo, Camille, Hudson, Austin and 38 great grandchildren and many more on the way!!

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Wilma Jenner, his twin brother, Billy Gene Jenner, and his son, James Robert Jenner.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Lashley Funeral Home in Mio, Michigan. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Fairview Mennonite Church in Fairview, Michigan with Pastor Brad Matuzak and Pastor Jubal Handrich officiating. A private interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
