Sande Showalter, 79, of West Branch, formerly of Houghton Lake

Sandra Shirley Louise Showalter, age 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023, at The Villa of Rose City. She was born January 27, 1943, in Toledo, OH to Robert and Roberta (Marshall) Tippin. She resided in West Branch, MI, formerly of Houghton Lake, and has called northern Michigan home since 1975.

Sande was a devoted Christian and a member of the United Presbyterian Kirk of the Lakes in Houghton Lake. She was also a Den Mother for Cub Scouts #3981 for many years. Sande always looked forward to family gatherings, cooking and baking for family and friends, playing cards and spending time with her Kirk family.

Sande is survived by her 8 children, Essie (Randy) Lownsbery of St. Helen, MI, Andrew (Juvy) Parks of Birch Bay, WA, Lewis (Lisa) Gelia of Tucson, AZ, Tara Gelia of Tucson, AZ, Shelby Gelia of Prudenville, MI, Robert (Rita) Showalter of Prudenville, MI, Rusty (Denise) Showalter of West Branch, MI, and Ben (Jennifer) Showalter of Yakima, WA; brother Chester (Terri) Tippin of Swanton, OH; sisters Juanita (Clarence) Shellito of Toledo, OH, Shelia Tippin of Harrison, MI, and Lela (Ron) Duda of Toledo, OH; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents Robert & Roberta Tippin and grandson Joseph Giovanni Gelia.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the United Presbyterian Kirk of the Lakes, 3188 W. Houghton Lake Dr., Houghton Lake, MI 48629 on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Karen Blatt will officiate.

Memorial contributions can be made to United Presbyterian Kirk of the Lakes.
