Rose Cibor, 88, formerly of Tawas City

Rose Marie Cibor formerly of Tawas City, passed away peacefully on Jan 5, 2023 at her home in Waterford MI with her family by her side.  Rose was the youngest of 4 children, born on Jan 8, 1934 in Detroit MI.  The daughter of Anthony & Josephine (Krol) Jachimowicz.  The family moved to Elba NY where she was raised, and graduated from Elba Central High School. She was employed by Sylvania Co, then obtained her Hairdresser license and operated an in home hair salon.  She married the love of her life, Frank S Cibor on Oct 3, 1953 in Elba NY.  They were married 67 wonderful years, with his passing in April 2021.  Eventually they left Elba, and moved the family to Detroit in 1971. She was employed by Detroit Bank & Trust, and retired in 1988 from Telcom Credit Union.  Upon their retirements, they traveled around and made Apache Junction their home for 15 years.  Moving back to Michigan, lived the later years in Tawas City.

Rose loved the outdoors, any water and the sunshine!  Detroit Tigers were her favorite, watching every game possible with lots of comments and sharing of the game with her family.  In her early days of work, she had farm duties that kept her busy in the summer months.  You could always find a card from her in your mailbox, whether is was your birthday, or just to say I Love You….she was truly one of kind with her love for anyone and all.  Polish cooking and baking was her specialty, Banana Breads were always on hand, she gave to everyone that crossed her path.  Bingo was played regularly, Sunday nights at the Knight’s of Columbus in East Tawas was so special to her with her friends.  Word puzzles were her part of her daily activity.  She said the Rosary and prayed for hours each and everyday.  Her Catholic faith was strong, raising all her children with that upbringing and value.

Rose & Frank raised 7 children, whom also survive: Debbie Whitford (Kyle Tobin), Frank Jr. (Dawn) Cibor, Susie Fairbanks, Jackie (Neil) Kapera, JoAnn Cibor,  Christina (George) Snyder and Joe (Kate) Cibor; grandchildren, Nick, Kelly, Chris, Andrew, Amy, Brad, Tony, Kyle, David, Robert, Jennifer, Laura, Amanda, Garrett, Joey, Mia and Bohdan, 9 great grandchildren, with 3 more due to arrive in 2023.

Mom’s greatest accomplishment and joy was her children and all their family Love.  Daily phone calls, overall care & concern for each of them and their lives.  She became friends with anyone that she encountered later in life, continually feeding and checking on them.  Prayer and her devout faith was what she taught and lived by.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister’s Clara Karas, Margie Plevniak and brother Anthony (Sonny) Jachinmowicz. A funeral mass is scheduled for Rose on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas with Father Nicholas Cooper officiating.  Her family will welcome friends at church on Monday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of her mass.  Rose will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in East Tawas. In lieu of flowers, you may consider Holy Family Catholic Church, Catholic School and the women’s CCW, or Angela Hospice/Livonia MI.
