Michael Franks, 35, of West Branch

Michael Jay Franks, age 35 of South Branch, MI, passed away on January 14, 2023.  Michael was born on February 11, 1987 in Tawas, MI to Dennis Mitchell Franks and Leesa Lynn Lanaville.  Michael was a resident of South Branch while also residing in the Whittemore and Hale areas.  Michael attended school in Rose City.

Growing up as a young boy, Michael loved nature, playing outside, walks through the woods, fishing in the summer and ice fishing in the winter with his father and older brother Scott.  He also enjoyed camping, was very artistic, enjoyed drawing and listening to music.  As Michael grew older he continued to enjoy the outdoors, nature hikes, fishing with his father, and especially hunting for morels.  This was a favorite spring activity he looked forward to each year.  He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball with his father.

Michael was a dedicated father who loved spending time with his family and children, often taking them for walks in the woods, to the park to play on the swings and slide and to the beach to play in the sand and swim in the lakes. He enjoyed attending local carnivals with his children as well.  He cared for and loved his children deeply.

Michael was a responsible man working in many different trades, manufacturing, machine shop, service industry, tree service, and the forestry and lumbering business. He wasn’t afraid to put in an honest day of work.

Michael is survived by his wife Koelette (Cloum) Franks, their children Isaiah and Annastacia.  Michael is also survived by his son’s Kaiden and Parker, his father and mother, Dennis and Leesa; and his brother, Scott.

Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Steve and Helen Franks and his grandfather,

Ray, Uncle and Aunt, Steve and Marsha Franks.

Michael will be greatly missed by so many family members and friends; his warm heart, his kindness, his empathy for others, and his generosity to help out those who asked for a favor or needed a helping hand. His fondest memories will live on among all those closest and dearest to him.

A private memorial service will be held for the family.
