Robert T. Binder, age 84, a lifelong resident of our area passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Ascension Genesis Hospital in Grand Blanc, MI.
He was born on January 26, 1938 in National City, MI to the late Russ and Leona Binder (Brown).
Bob graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1956 where he excelled in baseball and basketball. He then worked in construction with his father before beginning his career in the automotive industry in 1964 at Buick City in Flint, MI. Bob retired as a supervisor for General Motors after 30 loyal years. His favorite times encompassed being very active and spending time with his family.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, helping at the Sand Lake festival and being a member of the Moose Lodge. His most memorable past times were his annual fishing trips to Canada with the boys and a big trip to Alaska. Bob cherished his time at camp with his dear friend Floyd and his crew of boys.
He is survived by his wife Kate whom he married on July 20, 2002 in Au Gres, MI; 3 boys, Mike (Pam) Binder of Ottisville, MI, Scott (Cindy) Binder of Whittemore, MI, Jeff (Katie) Binder of Whittemore, MI; 3 daughters, Vicki (Tim) Kibby of Harrison, MI, Linda (Marcus) Bennett of Au Gres, MI and Diane (John Herbster) Leitz of Harrison, MI. Bob is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Jason, Whitney (Mark) Salter, Paige (Rob) Cracchiolo, Matthew, Brooke, Nathan, Aaron, Lauren, Katie, Heath, Isreal, Angela, Breanna, Hollie, Michelle, Rachel; 26 great-grandchildren, brother Charles (Jean) Binder of Howell, MI and his niece Shelley (Brian) Coltman of Howell, MI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Mitchell Binder.
A celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City, MI.
