Thomas Paul Collins, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, December 14,2022, at Bay Shores Nursing and Rehab in Bay City. Tom was born on April 5, 1956, to Thomas and Nancy (Furtaw) Collins in Bay City. He graduated from Ogemaw Heights High School in 1975. He loved bowling and hunting in his younger years. Tom loved sports and spending time outside with his family. His daughter and grandchildren meant the world to him. He especially loved watching his grandson play basketball, baseball, and sharing his passion and talent for bowling.
Tom is survived by his daughter, April (Jeff) Salgat of Standish; sister, Linda (Brian) Mills of Clear Lake; brother, Terry (Kelli) Collins of Rose City; grandchildren, Madisyn Brager (David Eaves), Carson Legut, Raelee and Kinsley Salgat and great-granddaughter, Paisley Eaves. Also surviving are nieces, Kendi (Ryan) O’Grady and Tiana Collins; nephews, Tim Collins, Travis (Mandy) Collins; great-nieces, Tessa, Taylin and Kelli Collins, Makenzi O’Grady, Lauren Mills, and Keara Wangler; great-nephews, Trace and Travis Collins, and Sean O’Grady.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Timothy Collins; nephew, Bradley Mills; great-nephew, Logan Mills, and grandparents, Paul and Mildred Furtaw and Irum and Betsy Collins.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch.
Tom will be laid to rest at Damon Cemetery in the spring and a private family memorial will be held at that time.
