Barbara “Barb” Ann Brinkman, age 90, of Oscoda, MI passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw, MI. She was born on February 24, 1932 in Durand, MI to the late Joseph and Eva (Phillips) Seward.
Barb grew up on a dairy farm in South Branch, MI and graduated from Hale High School. She went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. Barb was a kindergarten teacher for the Oscoda Area Schools from 1961 until her retirement in 1995.
She married Peter O. Brinkman on October 2, 1965 and together, they were very active in the Oscoda Community. Barb was a member of the Oscoda Baptist Church and the Lion’s Club, where she enjoyed participating in many of their events. She also enjoyed playing the piano for her students and scrapbooking.
Barb is survived by her sons, Ken (Sherry) Brinkman and Tom (Ginny) Brinkman; sister, Sarah Seward; grandchildren, Kimberly, Stacey, Andy, Ali, Tristen and Cole and 3 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Brinkman and granddaughter, Katy Jo.
A funeral service washeld on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda, MI with Pastor Chris Olson officiating. Interment will take place in Oscoda Pinecrest Cemetery on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11 AM.
