Betty Jean Thomas, age 96, of Roscommon, died peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at The Brook of Roscommon, in the presence and comfort of her family.
Betty was born May 31, 1926, the daughter of John Foster and Edith (Polkinghorne) Uren.
Betty will always be remembered for her charity work with pressing flowers for her Hospice cards. She was known as the lady in the ditch picking flowers. Betty was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Post 4159 in Roscommon. She made biscuits for the VFW for almost 30 years. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Roscommon. She enjoyed singing in the choir and being a bell ringer. She loved travelling, especially with her husband, John. Betty had a wonderful life. The family would like to thank the staff at The Brook of Roscommon for their compassion in taking care of Betty, especially in her last moments.
Betty will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Joanie (Ernie) Pickler; grandchildren: Fred (Nancy) Cooper, Amy Serra; great-grandchildren: Angela, Alyssa, Charlie, Eva, Anna, and Richie.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, John Thomas.
Family and friends will gather from 11:00-1:00 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2022, until the time of the Funeral at 1:00 PM, at Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, 143 Lake Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653.
