Alvinia Dittenber, 86, of AuGres

Age 86, of AuGres, Michigan passed in the early morning hours of August 31, 2022, with her loving family at her side. Alvinia was born on April 28, 1936, and raised by Julius and Edna Cole in Burleigh Township, Michigan, where she resided for the first 22 years of her life. She was a graduate of Whittemore Prescott High School in 1956, where she also met the love of her life, LaVern Dittenber at the age of 15. The two were high school sweethearts that eventually married in May of 1958, and since then have not looked back as they went on to share almost 65 tremendous years together. Alvinia worked as a teacher’s aid at AuGres Sims and Arenac Eastern Schools for 16 years, but her main occupation over all the years was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. On top of embracing all these roles, she also belonged to several clubs such as “Tops”, The Red Hat Society, and was a 4H Leader. Her hobbies consisted of gardening, 4H, quilting, flower arranging, and most importantly spending time with family.

Alvinia is survived by her husband, LaVern Dittenber; children, Darlene Smith,Diane Rozanski, and Deborah Young; sisters, Beatrice (Richard) Head and Mary Lou (Clifton) Nichols; grandchildren, Jason Smith, Kasey Freeman, Chelsea Bennett, Nickolas Young, Bridget Rozanski, and Megan Young; and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Alvinia is preceded in death by 5 siblings.

Alvinia touched the lives of everyone she met with compassion and understanding, and her family has been blessed to have her as a constant support figure. She will be greatly missed and in everyone’s thoughts daily. On Saturday, September 3, 2022, funeral services to celebrate her life were held at the Arenac Christ United Methodist Church with a burial and luncheon that followed.
