Rose Oliver, 85, of Standish

Rose Marie Oliver, 85, passed away August 10, 2022, surrounded by family. She was born on July 31, 1937, to Ray and Alta (Swaffield) Ireland in Sterling, Michigan.

Rose married Lee Oliver on September 27, 1958. After attending the Edward W. Sparrow School of Nursing, she served as a surgical nurse for seventeen years at the Standish Community Hospital. She then worked in the family business, Oliver’s, until retirement in 2000. Rose loved spending time with her family, reading, casino trips, and in her later years, coloring pictures to pass the time. She was also quite handy with a paintbrush and happy to help on projects!

In addition to her husband of 63 years, Rose is survived by their six children: Matthew (Kathy) Oliver of Dryden, Mitchell (Susan) Oliver of Standish, Ida (Rick) Wetters of Augusta, Vickie Oliver of White Lake, Tracey (Ernest) Simon of Gladwin, Jesse (Susan) Oliver of White Lake; Grandchildren: Steven (Heather) Oliver, Sarah Oliver, Jacob (Amber) Oliver, Emmalee (Zach) Millheim, Victoria Wetters, Sydney Simon, Kristen (Kyle) Warner, James (Emily) Simon, Quinten Carver, Daniel Oliver, and Alison Oliver; four great-grandchildren; her brother Donald (Jean) Ireland, brother-in-law Royce (Nancy) Walters, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings: Bruce (Emma) Ireland, Jack (Billie) Ireland, Lois (Bill) Hartwick, Charles (Betty) Ireland, and Ida Walters.

Honoring Rose’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Faith Baptist Church (4544 West M-61) in Standish at 11:00 a.m. Family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until time of service. Luncheon to follow. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Lee Ramsay Funeral Home-STANDISH CHAPEL, Standish, Michigan.
