Nina Mary Love, age 105, was born on Christmas Eve, 1916 in Downriver, Michigan, to Emery and Artemis (Pare’) Evans. She married Roy Isaac Love on June 16, 1934 in Ecorse, Michigan. Her family liked to refer to Nina as “The Hostess with the Mostest,” and she went out of her way to entertain as manager of the Amvets Lodge in Higgins Lake for many years. She was also a member of Amvets Post 13 auxiliary. She liked to play cards, especially poker and euchre. She and Roy traveled all over the world… South America, Europe, and across the U.S. Nina and Roy were longtime members of St. Hubert Catholic Church in Lyon Township. In her spare time, she tended to her flower garden and enjoyed sitting on her deck to watch the wildlife. Most of all, though, Nina enjoyed spending time with her many family members and friends.

Love, Lieutenant Colonel, US Army, Retired, of Wentzville, Missouri; many grandchildren; many more great-grandchildren; and a handful of great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Roy; her parents; sons, Roy Donald Love and Robert J. Love; and daughter Barbara Ann Love; and siblings: Willard Evans, William Evans, Emery Evans, Jr., and Leonard Evans.

Family and friends gathered on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, for the Funeral Mass, at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 7612 West Higgins Lake Drive, Roscommon, Michigan 48653. Celebrant was The Reverend Bernard Tyler.

Nina was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery, across the street from St. Hubert Catholic Church, following the Funeral Mass.
