Virginia Voss, 93, of Hale

Beloved mother, Virginia Ann (Decker) Voss, passed away April 30, 2022 at 93 years old peacefully at home with looking out at the lake she enjoyed over the past 65 years. She was born August 14, 1928 in Saginaw, Michigan, the only child of Bruce and Nora Decker.

Virginia graduated from Saginaw High School and lived most of her life in Saginaw. She married Leonard R. Voss, the love of her life, on June 5, 1948. They enjoyed 52 years together before his passing in 2000.

She was a homemaker all her life but worked hard along with dad building our two-family homes in Saginaw and three houses on Little Long Lake. They were a perfect match, enjoying dancing everywhere they could find live music, and had many fishing trips together with friends to the UP with their Fifth Wheel. Mom loved to fish and usually caught bigger ones than dad. Walleyes were the big catch, but she said she preferred perch for best eating.

Mom kept busy after dad passed away with quilting at her church, playing bingo and socializing at the Hale Senior Center, knitting Afghans, she also enjoyed reading and using her iPad to keep up with the times…Googling anything she was inquisitive about. She always enjoyed living on the lake and looked forward to spring to keep a watchful eye on the Loon family.

Summertime was her favorite season to watch activity on the lake, pontoon rides to check out what was happening around the lake and swimming (actually floating was her specialty) until she couldn’t take steps to the lake any more at 91. She also enjoyed taking trips with her two daughters making it to Alaska and Hawaii. She was a soft-spoken lady, loved by many and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her children: John & (Aria) Voss, Carol & (Andrejs) Roga, Dale Voss, and Paula Forshee; Grandchildren; Kevin & (Cindy) Voss, Kristi & (Chris) Traynoff, and Jeffery Forshee; Great Grandchildren; Mara, Melissa, and Chelsie Voss, Ryan and Sarah Traynoff, Lyric and Luke Nickleberry-Forshee.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 4 – 8 PM at Buresh Funeral Home in Hale, MI. The family will welcome friends again on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 10:30 until the time of service beginning at 11:30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hale, MI. ¬¬¬¬ Private burial service with family will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Saginaw, MI.
