Lowell Kage, 93 of Higgins Lake

Lowell M. Kage, age 93, of Higgins Lake, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at The Brook of Houghton Lake.

Lowell was born March 19, 1929, in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of George and Margaret (Hunt) Kage.

Lowell married Ann Jeanette Sanders on January 22, 1955, in Rochester, Michigan.

He was a Korean War veteran, having served his country in the United States Army. Lowell and his beloved wife, Jeanette have lived at Higgins Lake since the 1970’s. Lowell in life enjoyed staying active and was involved in many things.

He was a member of the: Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, which he was president of for 17 years; the Roscommon-Higgins Trail Cruisers; the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society, past president; and the Roscommon Habitat for Humanity; as well as the St. Hubert’s Mens Club.

Lowell will be remembered for his Habitat for Humanity Award he received in 2015, and his Industrial Arts Master Teacher Award in 1982. He taught for the Waterford Schools. There he coached football, basketball, baseball, and skiing. Lowell is in the Michigan High School Ski Coach Hall of Fame. For himself, Lowell enjoyed many sports, skiing, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting, as well as his woodworking.

Lowell will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette, of 67 years; daughters: Angela (Wayne, deceased) Maynard, Kathleen (Joseph) Curry, Christine (Philip) Willis, Julie (Vincent) Noto; grandchildren: Colleen (Howard) Pingston, Brian (fiancé, Ashley Short) Maynard, John (Melissa) McAuley, Andrew Willis, Christopher Willis; great-grandchildren: Jackson and Lilianna; brothers: Lloyd (Elaine) Kage, Dale Kage, Randall (Anita) Kage, Wesley (Betty) Kage; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers: Eugene, Marvin, Nelson, Virgil, Alger, and Richard.

Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, with an hour of gathering prior to the Mass, at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 7612 W Higgins Lake Dr, Roscommon, MI 48653.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Lowell’s name to Habitat for Humanity.
