Dick Jones, 90, of St. Helen

John Richard Jones, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at The Villa at West Branch. He was born on May 19, 1931 in Croswell, MI to Robert Earl and Rose (Kota) Jones. Dick has lived in St. Helen since 1984 formerly of Croswell.

On February 1, 1964 he married Clarabelle Dickinson.

Dick worked as a farmer, briefly as a mail man, and at the sugar factory as a chemist. He retired from the Michigan Employment Security Commission (MESC). He was always ready to lend a hand at a moments notice. Dick was very active in local churches and volunteered at Hospice of Helping Hands, We Care and the Blue Gill Festival. He served on the board for We Care and the planning committee for the Blue Gill Festival. In his free time, you could find him fishing and golfing.

Dick is survived by his daughters, Pamela LaVere and Jennifer (Ron) Walters; grandson, Zachary LaVere; fur buddy, Minnie; sister-in-law, Amilda Dickinson; several nieces and nephews; great friends and neighbors, Merrilee Madero, Joel Casse, Carolyn & Mitch Stevens, Rob & Missy Pearson, John Sutter, Char Jarstfer, and Teresa Travis.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Clarabelle, brother, Thomas E. Jones, sister, Virginia Jones-Colgan, and in laws, Dean Dickinson, Robert Colgan, and Muriel & George Buchin.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen, MI will begin on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to We Care (A nonprofit church based ministry), the Autism Society of Michigan, and M3 International Ministries.
