Beverly Tupper, 90, of Roscommon (formerly of Gladstone)

Dawn Beverly (Louis) Tupper, age 90, of Gladstone, Roscommon, and Holland, Michigan passed on March 30, 2022.

Dawn was born to Robert and Blanche (Perron) Louis on July 27, 1931, at 502 Delta Avenue in Gladstone, Michigan.

On August 26, 1950, Dawn married the love of her life, Robert Francis Taylor Tupper. Bob always liked to remind her that he married an older woman– by eleven days. Together they raised six children: Deb (Patrick) McMahon, Rob (Gail) Tupper, Mary (Bill) Martindale, David Tupper, Joe (Bonnie) Tupper, and Paul (Jackie) Tupper. Life blessed them with 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was a Yooper and kept her U.P. family and friends close throughout her life especially her sister and brother-in-law, Norita and Jim Lecher, and their family. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Allen Louis, her beloved Aunt “Bunny” Petersen, and her very missed great-granddaughter Emma Martindale.

Dawn and Bob’s life journey took them to various parts of the country with the U.S. Air Force and cities throughout Michigan before settling in Roscommon. She worked for Roscommon schools as a librarian, secretary, and recess aide. She loved all crafts and knitted each grandchild and great-grandchild an heirloom Christmas stocking, and her quilts kept countless people warm.

She showed her love for Bob and family through the meals she prepared and was given the honor of “Good Cooker”. Family favorites were Texas sheet cake, Taylor Beans, and “Doggie Bone” cookies. She was also a reader of all books and her shopping style was definitely “shop ‘til others drop”. Dawn and Bob loved camping, canoeing, traveling, and passionately cheering on Michigan State University sports teams.

Dawn was active in her local Catholic parish of St. Hubert’s, was a long-time member of the Michigan State University Extension, Council of Catholic Women, and lovingly recruited grandchildren to participate in the annual Christmas Adopt-a-Family of her parish. Dawn and Bob were active in their community in big and small ways and were quietly and constantly helping others.

Within her family, she was known for her tight hugs which were never long enough but stuck with you for days. Every family birthday was celebrated with their rousing, but out-of-tune, Birthday song, and anniversaries or special occasions always meant a card in the mailbox. Their adult children say it was the little reminders throughout life that grounded them.

A memorial service is being planned for this spring. No flowers are requested, and any donations are asked to be sent to Hospice of Holland, Right to Life of Michigan, or Gahagan Nature Preserve in Roscommon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
