Barb Sherman, 85, of Gladwin

Barbara Katherine Sherman, 85, of Gladwin passed away on March 31,2022.

Born March 11, 1937, in Franklin Township, Clare County, Michigan, Barbara was the daughter of Thomas Alfred Erskine and Clara Anna (Miller) Erskine. She was married to Donald Otto Sherman at the Oberlin Lutheran Church on December 10, 1955. Barb and Don were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Gladwin. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2014.

Barb and Don lived on a farm in Gladwin where they farmed and raised their family. She was a talented seamstress, sewing wedding dresses for both of her daughters; as well as an exceptional quilter, evidenced by the many quilts she crafted for family and friends as gifts for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, and Christmas.

Barb is survived by her daughters Debra (Ronald) Tripp of Chevy Chase, MD, and Sandra (Jack) Wark of Beaverton; grandchildren Rachel Tripp (Callum Lewandrowski), Katherine Tripp, Carrie (Adam) Breault, and Justin Wark; great-granddaughter Amber Breault and great-grandson Ethan Breault; her sisters Anna Coon, Mary (Stanley) Merritt, Susanna O’Dell, Nancy (Joseph) Taverniti, and brothers Alfred “Bill” (Phyllis) Erskine and Thomas (Karin) Erskine. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Hilda Erskine, and brother John Erskine. Survivors also include her sisters-in-law Valdine Erskine, Augusta “Gussie” (Edward) Etelamaki, and brothers-in-law Martin Sherman and Alt (Robyn) Sherman, her godson Eddie Etelamaki, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 11 am with Pastor James Krach presiding at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Family may greet friends from 10 am until the time of service on Wednesday. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 3 pm until 8 pm at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Barb’s memory can be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
