Tom Kreckman, 83, of Gladwin

Thomas I. Kreckman, 83, of Gladwin, passed away on March 24, 2022, at MyMichigan Medical Center, Gladwin.

He was born on May 19, 1938, the son of John and Madaline (Ulrich) Kreckman in Kalamazoo.

On December 28, 1963, he was united in marriage to Joan Drotleff in Detroit. Tom graduated with his J.D. from Detroit College of Law in 1967. Together Tom and Joan moved to Gladwin in 1969.

Tom started a private practice in Gladwin and later became a Friend of the Court for many years until he retired in 2014. He was a member of the Michigan Bar, the Clare-Gladwin Bar Association, and was a Past President of the Gladwin Lions Club. He was a faithful member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Gladwin.

Tom loved to hunt and fish, enjoying his many outdoor adventures over the years. Tom’s most cherished memories were those spent with his family. His time with his family was his pride and joy.  

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years: Joan Kreckman; children: Eric (Dewi) Kreckman, Todd (Susan) Kreckman, Heidi (James) Colwell, and John “Clint” (Sara) Kreckman; grandchildren: Rebekah, Nathan, Ali, Jacob, Ryan, Haakon, Gunnar, Ana, Jack, Henry, and Luke. He is also survived by a niece: Patricia along with several other nieces.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Allen, John and Karen.  

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church’s Columbarium.

Memorial contributions may be made according to Christ the King Lutheran Church, Hospice of Gladwin, or a Donor’s Charity of Choice. Arrangements are in the care of Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home : Gladwin, Michigan (MI)
