Jean Marion Papp, 97, formerly of Prescott

Jean Marion Papp, 97, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the Brook Assisted Living in Boyne City, MI .

She was born in Maple Ridge, MI at a grocery store. Jean was the fourth of eight children born to Percival and Sylvia Hull. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1942.

Dr. Edward Papp proposed marriage to Jean in 1943 and they were married weeks later on the banks of the Newago River by Rev. Kavanaugh. The married couple had three children.

Jean assisted her husband with his medical practice and took care of the family household. After Dr. Papp retired as Chief Medical Examiner, he and Jean traveled in their motorhome alongside their family.

She was known for her honesty and integrity. Prescott drivers would find her walking to and from the local post office. She was a loyal supporter and attended the Judson Baptist Church. Church members were graced by Jean’s Christian singing.

Jean is survived by her daughter Lynette Cromwell; 4 grandchildren Heath Papp, Lara VanHorn, Tyler Cromwell, and Cassidy Covell; 7 great grandchildren, Brycen Papp, Leif VanHorn, Scarlett Cromwell, Finnigan Cromwell, Ezra Cromwell, Jude Cromwell, and Anna Covell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Edward Papp, daughter Cheryl Covell, son Randall Papp, grandson Richard Papp and seven siblings, Opal Sedore, Margaret Currie, Richard Hull, Leonard Hull, Jack Hull, William Hull and James Hull.

Her funeral was held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Judson Baptist Church in Prescott, MI. Interment took place in Richland Township Cemetery.
