Connie Schreiber, 74, of Lovells

My Bride, Connie Schrieber, passed away on March 3, 2022 with the Love of Her Life by her side.

Connie was born October 16, 1947 in Delray, MI to Floyd and Rose Schrieber.

She went to St. Patrick’s in Wyandotte and remained close to many classmates, hosting 50th, 60th, and 70th birthday celebrations for the class. Connie graduated from Wayne State with an Accounting degree which she put to great use, finishing her professional career with her own CPA practice of 31 years, retiring in the spring of 2018. Connie never spoke badly of anyone except for a few IRS agents.

Some words to describe Connie are Determined, Vibrant, Quick Witted, Dynamic, and very Entertaining. If you met her, you liked her, if you knew her, you loved her.

Connie always gave-back and was on the United Way boards in Battle Creek and Brighton. She helped reintroduce Osprey back into Kensington Metro Park, feeding the young birds till they fledged and could catch their own fish. After moving north to the North Branch of the Au Sable River in Lovells Township area, she continued with conservation efforts and was active in the Au Sable North Branch Area Foundation, serving as board member, treasurer, and chairperson. She got involved with the Lovells Township Historical Society serving as treasurer and assisted with many of their events.

The pinnacle of her Non-Profit passion was the 13 years as board member, treasurer, and 6 years as Chair of Huron Pines, which is dedicated to conserving and enhancing Northern Michigan’s natural resources.

Connie’s parents and brother Chuck preceded her in death. She survived by her husband Eric Bankhead, step-daughter Shannon Bankhead of Tarzana CA, and special cousin Jeff Schrieber and family, as well as many dear friends and extended family members.

A Mass will be held Tuesday, March 22nd in East Tawas at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation at 10am, Mass at 11am, lunch to follow.

A Celebration of Life will be held this spring in Lovells.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the ‘Connie Schrieber Fund for Environmental Innovation’ at huronpines.org or Huron Pines, 4241 Old US 27 South, Suite 2, Gaylord, MI 49735.
