Marilyn Jo Allison, 83, of Prudenville

Marilyn Jo Allison, 83, of  Prudenville passed away on Thursday December 16, 2021 at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital.


Marilyn was born on September 16, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Harold and Eleanor (Garriett) Miller. She grew up in the Detroit area moving to Houghton Lake from Redford Township in 1975. 

Marilyn loved her 27 years of working with her students, as a bus driver for COOR Intermediate School District. She always enjoyed doing extra projects and special trips with her students.  Marilyn was an active member of the Houghton Lake Senior Center and served on the board of directors for a few years.

She spent several years working with the Special Olympics and as a volunteer for Red Cross. Marilyn was a very artsy person and had a passion for making Halloween costumes for family members, and especially for herself to enjoy on Halloween along with making costumes for other holidays. She had a wonderful sense of humor and made friends easily.  The last few years she would have purple streaks in her hair or purple hair, just to see people’s smiles.


Surviving Mrs.Allison are her two daughters, Roberta Chrispell of Houghton Lake, and Ann Marie Allison of Lansing; three grandchildren, Tristan Chrispell, Brandon Chrispell, and Alexa Jo Allison; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Melissa Girard of Higgins Lake; two special great nieces, Caeleigh Girard, and Sarah Girard; and her many friends at the Maple Grove Apartments. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Michael Eckert; nephew, Doug Girard; two sisters, Phyllis Girard, and Judith Simpson; brother, Douglas Miller. 


Memorial Services for Marilyn Jo Allison will be conducted at 12:00pm Saturday January 8, 2022 from First Baptist Church of Prudenville with Rev. Douglas Stockwell officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday January 8, 2022 from 11:00am to 12:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Prudenville. 

Memorial contributions in memory of Marilyn are asked to be directed to COOR or the Houghton Lake Senior Center.
