On Monday, December 13, 2021, Dawn May Smith, loving wife, mom, and grandma, passed away at the age of 55.
Dawn was born on August 12, 1966 in California. She was raised by her mom, Linda, with her 3 siblings: Tammy, Brenda, and Thomas. She attended Fairview Area Schools and Riverview High School.
Dawn relocated back to Oscoda County in 1991, where she married the love of her life, Robert Smith, on February 14, 1994. Dawn gave birth to four children: Patricia, Joseph, Robert, and Kevin. She was also blessed with three more children with her marriage: Amanda, Allisen, and Stephen.
Dawn had seven grandchildren: Vivian, Izabella, Lylian, Elliot, Phynix, Robert III, and Wyatt. Also surviving her are her husband Robert “Bob” Smith, her mother Linda Powers, her sisters: Tammy, Brenda and Aimee; her brothers: Thomas, Fred, and Edd; her kitties: Lucky Leo, Baby Honey, and Romeo; and her dog Chief. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Steirs, her mother-in-law Kathleen Smith, her uncle Lee Roy, and her aunt Norma.
First and most important to her, Dawn was a homemaker. She loved her family. Dawn also loved to draw, dance, bake, go fishing, and go to the beach. Dawn loved animals. Her childhood dream was to be a veterinarian. She was currently rescuing all the kitties and finding them homes. Dawn had a heart of gold and a smile that was contagious. If she knew you, she loved you.
Visitation will be held 1:00 – 9:00 PM on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Lashley Funeral Home, in Mio.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at The Lashley Funeral Home, with Pastor Tony Van Duser officiating. In accordance with Dawn’s wishes, cremation will follow the funeral service.
