Marc Jeffery Harland

GRAYLING – Marc Jeffery Harland, 66, of Grayling passed away June 9, 2021. 

Marc Jeffery Harland was born May 22, 1955, third oldest son of John and Doris Harland in Flint, Michigan. Marc was one of nine children of the Harland family.  They moved to Grayling in Feb of 1971 to become partners in Scheer Motors.  Marc spent the remainder of his life in Grayling where he lived life to the fullest, loved his family and enjoyed all things outdoors.  He loved family get togethers, was a passionate mountain biker, avid kayaker and accomplished downhill and cross-country skier. Music was a big part of his life, as he still played his eclectic collection of vinyl records from the 70’s and 80’s.  He was a self-taught harmonica player and was very good at playing the drums. He owned several classic cars and was proud to show them off at car shows.  He enjoyed sharing his love and expertise about classic cars with his family and friends making for interesting conversation.  Marc benefited from dabbling in horticulture, in fact, it was one of his best buds. Marc worked for his nephew Jeremy for many years, loving his job and the people he worked with.

Marc is survived by his loving wife Sheila, son Ryan Harland, step daughter Debbie (Jim) Knowles, siblings Rick (Sue) Harland, Dave Harland, Denise (Kim) Parkinson, Stephen (Brandon) Harland, Karen (David) Karpicke, Paul (Laura) Harland, Jim (Bridget) Harland. Two grandduaghters Cassie and Jenna. Two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Daughter-in-law Dawn Bryan. He had many nieces and nephews, Amie Diehl, Michael Harland, Angela Horsch, Jeremy Bowers, Travis Parkinson, Scott Bowers, Jory Harland, Falynne Gray, Krysten Karpicke, Alex Karpicke, Matthew Harland, Jamey Harland, and Sarah Frisbee, Ashley Sheldon many great and great great nieces and nephews.

Marc was  preceded in death by his parents John and Doris Harland, brother Kevin Harland, step son James Bryan, niece Lindsey Knowles and his beloved dog Ebbi.

A visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of service at 12 pm at Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, MI.
