Donna Anna Monkiewicz, age 95, of Higgins Lake, died on Friday, May 15, 2020 in Houghton Lake, Michigan.
Donna was born Wednesday, September 24, 1924 in Poznan, Poland, the daughter of Andrew and Nora (Ardziejewski) Cichy.
Donna married Joseph Monkiewicz on June 1, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan.
Donna enjoyed crocheting and reading. She will always be remembered as a great hostess and her excellent cooking. Donna was highly active at St. Hubert Catholic Church and strong in her faith.
Donna will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children: Susan Koryciak from Flint, Michigan, Steve Monkiewicz of L’Anse, Michigan; grandchildren: Jason (Loretta) Cox of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, Jackie (Eric Smith) Wood of Grantville, Georgia; great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Austin (Summer), Addy, Rachel, Amanda, Sara; great-great-grandchildren: Maddox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, her son Thomas and son-in-law Ron Koryciak.
Donna’s family has chosen to remember her privately at this time.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Donna’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
