Dennis “Denny” Hugh Griffis, age 73, of Roscommon, Michigan, passed away on May 11, 2020 at his
Florida residence.
Denny was born in 1947 in Edmore, Michigan, the son of Donna (Griffis) Slock.
Denny married LaVera Calhoun in August of 1970 in Greenville, Michigan and moved to Roscommon in 1972 where they have raised their family since.
Denny will be remembered for his love of sports, playing slow-pitch softball with his son Jon for 28 years and attending his kids and grandkids sporting events – he was their biggest fan! He was so proud of his John Deere B Tractor that his close friend Lee Kaufman and him restored. His children always knew that they could call him for anything – he was quite the handyman.
He will be missed by all of his Roscommon friends, coffee buddies, Nester’s friends, and Florida friends.
For the people who truly knew him, he will forever be remembered for washing his driveway and always having a smile on his face.

Denny is preceded in death by his grandparents Hugh and Gertrude Griffis, mother and stepfather Donna and Leo Slock, niece Lori Bannon, father-in-law and mother-in-law L.G. and Martha Calhoun, brothers-in-law Dennis London, Ron London and Jack Hunsicker.
We love you and we will miss you forever.
