Edwin W. “Ted” Harvey, 89, of Houghton Lake

Ted was born on June 12, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Gordon and Margaret (O’Rourke) Harvey. He grew up in the Detroit area moving to Houghton Lake with his parents at the age of 16.  Following graduating from Houghton Lake High School, Ted served from 1951 – 1953 in the Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After returning from service in 1953 he went into the family business that his father started when the family moved to Houghton Lake, Harvey Marine.  He continued to own and operate Harvey Marine for many years with his family. Ted was married on June 21, 1953 in Lawrence, Michigan to Jane M. Chapman.  He was a member of Houghton-Higgins Elks Lodge,  Masonic Lodge, and a Shriner.

Surviving Mr. Harvey are his daughter, Sandra (Mark) Williams of Ludington; two sons, Gordon (Debi) Harvey of Houghton Lake, and Mike (Sue) Harvey of Clare; five grandchildren, Kristin, Adam, Leanna, Dustin, and Courtney; five great grandchildren, Jillian, Claire, Beckett, Maya, and Luke.  Ted was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Jane M. Harvey.
