Delores Jewell Kowalski, age 90, of Roscommon, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at home in the presence and comfort of her family.
Dee was born Monday, June 24, 1929 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the daughter of George and Jewell (Ogle) Spicer.
Delores Spicer married Anthony Kowalski on April 3, 1948 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Dee was the first female data processor, having worked for the IRS for over 40 years. She was a pioneer for paving the way for women in the workforce. Dee was passionate about stressing to others the continuation of education and learning. Dee was proud of her husbands military career and loved him very much. She was a proud Nana to all her grand and great-grandchildren.
Dee will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband, Anthony, of 72 years; daughter Joni Kowalski of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; daughters-in-law: Toni Kowalski, Kathy Karchefski, Trudy Shawver; grandchildren: Aaron, Tina (Tim), Kimberly, Patti (Roland), Joey (Bonnie), Charlotte (Tommy), Stevie Joe, Christopher, Tony, John (Marisa), Jewell, Rob (Nina), Mikey, Marisa; great-grandchildren: Dawson, Adrianna, Alyssa, Travis, Bryce, Alexis, Amanda, Tommy, Gavin, Jayden, Audrey, Olivia, Silas, Josiah, Tobias, Boaz, Indie; sisters Linda Steffes, Patsy Strayhorn and Sharon Spicer; brother Jerone Spicer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dee is preceded in death by her parents and children, Anthony Michael Kowalski, Stephen Patrick Kowalski, Sharon Gail (Jack) McCarthy, Robert Randall Kowalski.
Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Mass still needed to be determined for a later date.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Dee’s name to Munson Home Health Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
