David Charles Dougherty, age 82, of Roscommon

David Charles Dougherty, age 82, of Roscommon, died on Sunday, August 18, 2019, in Grayling, Michigan.

David was born on Monday, October 26, 1936, in Grayling, Michigan to Ellis Dougherty & June Hoffman/Dougherty/Ostling.  David married Kay on March 19th, 1958 in Grayling, Michigan.

            David will be fondly remembered for his many accomplishments: 29 years of continuous service at Roscommon State Bank/NBD/Bank One/Chase; Owner/Proprietor of Greens Tavern, 9 years; Past President (1975) and longtime member of Roscommon Rotary, and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award; Trustee at Kirtland Community College; Trustee at First Congregational Church; Served on Gerrish Township Board; Served on Higgins Township Board; Charter Member of Roscommon Area Historical Society; Lifetime member of the AuSable Beaver Club; Previous Lions Club Member.

David had several hobbies throughout his life: Sailing, and weekly Sailboat races at the Higgins Lake Boat Club; Golfing; Snowmobiling; Swimming and entertaining friends on Higgins Lake; Taking classes at Kirtland, both computer and art; Painting and drawing; Hunting and Fishing; Thursday Nights with friends at the hunting camp; Enjoying time with his family and grandchildren.

David will be greatly missed by family and friends.  He is survived by his wife Kay (Sackrider) of Roscommon, Michigan and his daughters, Teri Dougherty of Roscommon, Traci Dougherty (Steve Jarvis) of Cypress, Texas, and Cari Dougherty of Roscommon.  Grandchildren, Jordan Dougherty (Daniel Lynch, Fiancé) of Houston, Texas, and Ali Dougherty of Houston, Texas.  Brother, Dan Ostling (Julie) of Chelsea, Michigan.  Nephew Geoff (Darlene) Ostling & family of Howell, Michigan, Niece Kristy Ostling of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Sister in law, Shelia Ostling of Raleigh, North Carolina. Nephew Chris (Jennifer) Ostling & family of Raleigh, North Carolina, Niece Susan Ostling & family of Raleigh, North Carolina; as well as many cousins and longtime friends.

David is preceded in death by his fathers, Ellis Dougherty and Arvid Ostling, his mother June Ostling, and his brother, John Ostling.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, August 24th, at 11:00 am at First Congregational Church, 109 Main Street, Roscommon Michigan, with visitation starting at 10:00, with luncheon to follow Memorial service at same location.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in David’s name to First Congregational Church of Roscommon and/or Roscommon Area Historical Society.

            Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagner and Walsh Funeral Directors, Roscommon.
